Councilman Best was born in New York City on December 31, 1952. He is married to his beautiful wife Claire and their children are Kristan and Emma. Their German Shepherd Layla also lives with them.

He attended Seton Hall Preparatory School in South Orange, New Jersey, Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, the Community College of the Air Force , the American University in Beirut, Lebanon and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

He is an actor and performs with the River Cities Pelican Playhouse. He is also a free lance writer (5 publications).

Bob Best has served three terms as Councilman of Miami Springs, in Group I, since 2005.

He has proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1975-1980, received a USAF Commendation Medal in 1979, being honorably discharged on April 30, 1980.

His career include contributions to Lockheed Aircraft as a Supervisor of Flight Line Operations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East; Southern Air Transport as Director of Maintenance and Engineering in Miami, S. E. Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe and Central America; Eastern Airlines as Supervisor-Aircraft Inspection in Miami; Arrow Airways as Director of Maintenance and Engineering in Miami, Central and South America; and Aero Supply & Consulting Corp. as Director of Quality Engineering.
