New work by internationally acclaimed artist R.C. Bailey will be on display in the lobby of City Hall for the month of November. The pieces on display represent a new direction for Bailey, who has combined the extraordinarily fine detail and textures of etched scratchboard with traditional opaque and spot glazing oil painting techniques. The resulting images are richly surfaced and intensely luminous, imbuing his contemporary subjects with a vintage-like quality evocative of earlier times.
A resident of Miami Springs for over forty years, Bailey has taught Painting and Drawing at Miami-Dade College, has been accepted into the International Guild of Realists, was a two-time finalist in the International Art Renewal Competition, and was the featured artist in the December 2008 issue of International Artist Magazine. His work may be seen in many public spaces including the Miami Museum of Science, Royal Caribbean cruise ships, galleries and private collections throughout the world.
The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception on Monday evening, November 1st from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and to stop in and enjoy these pieces between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. through the month.
