Ron Gorland was raised in Miami Springs and attended Miami Springs Elementary, Miami Springs Jr. High and Hialeah Sr. High. After earning a degree in Business Administration at Florida State University, he returned to Miami Springs and Eastern Airlines briefly where his son, the first of his four children (3 are now adults), was born. After thirty years of successful corporate management, Mr. Gorland returned to live in Miami Springs in 2004 with his wife Trish, and their daughter Sarah. While Mr. Gorland's father, a long time Miami Springs resident, is deceased, Maja Gorland, his mother, still lives in Miami Springs and is a Miami Springs Pioneer (over 50 continuous years living in Miami Springs).
Mr. Gorland's corporate career began with Eastern Airlines where he worked while in high school, college, and immediately upon graduating from college. He then moved to a management position with Mellon Bank in their Pittsburgh headquarters followed by over 30 years in senior corporate financial management culminating in a series of senior officer level positions. These positions included 11 years with RJR Nabisco where for four years he was the senior corporate representative in their Far East organization and ran their offshore global finance company; followed by 10 years with Blount International; and five years with Premiere Technologies and then S1 Corporation as a senior corporate officer in each company.
Mr. Gorland was, and still is, active in children's sports. Until returning to Miami Springs Ron was active in civic organizations, earning several state level awards. Mr. Gorland left the military as a Major after serving in Vietnam as an Army Captain where he was awarded seven medals including the Bronze Star for Valor.
