JAMES R. BORGMANN CITY MANAGER

Our City Manager is James (Jim) R. Borgmann. Mr. Borgmann has been a resident of Miami Springs since 1958 and has a great deal of experience in local government with over 20 years serving Miami Springs including 8 years as a Councilman, and 12 years in the City in various management positions including Assistant City Manager until appointed City Manager in Nov. 2003 by the City Council.
Mr. Borgmann also has extensive city management experience serving a combined 12 years with the City's of Miami Beach and Miami as Director of Parking and Assistant Solid Waste Director, respectively. Mr. Borgmann holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Public Administration, both from Florida Atlantic University. At the civic level, Jim has served on the Board of Directors of several organizations including the Deaf Services Bureau of Dade County and the Junior Orange Bowl Committee.

RONALD GORLAND ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER

Ronald (Ron) Gorland, Assistant City Manager, was raised in Miami Springs and attended Miami Springs Elementary, Miami Springs Jr. High and Hialeah Sr. High. After earning a degree in Business Administration at Florida State University, he returned to Miami Springs briefly where his son, the first of his four children (3 are now adults), was born. He came back to Miami Springs to live in 2004 with his wife Trish, and their daughter Sarah. While Mr. Gorland's father, a long time Miami Springs resident, is deceased, Maja Gorland, his mother, still lives in Miami Springs and is a Miami Springs Pioneer. Mr. Gorland's corporate career began with Eastern Airlines where he worked while in high school, college, and immediately after graduating from college. He then moved to a management position with Mellon Bank in their headquarters followed by over 30 years in senior corporate financial management culminating in a series of senior officer level positions. These positions included 11 years with RJR Nabisco where for four years he was the senior corporate representative in their Far East organization and ran their offshore global finance company; followed by 10 years with Blount International, and five years with Premiere Technologies and S1 Corporation as a senior corporate officer. Mr. Gorland was, and still is active in children's sports and in civic organizations, earning several state level awards. Mr. Gorland served in Vietnam as an Army Captain where he was awarded seven medals including the Bronze Star for Valor.
