Our servers

City of Miami Springs Florida Official Website

The City of Miami Springs network consists of several Windows 2008R2, Windows 2003, and Linux servers. Exchange 2010 is used as our primary eletronic mail system. File and print services are hosted on Windows 2008R2. Active Directory and authentication services are also on Windows 2008.

A set of Windows 2003 servers are used for our Optical Imaging system. One runs our Microsoft SQL DB server, another runs primary storage operations, and a third is used to replicate storage.

Linux at the city is used for hosting Virtualization, monitoring, and log file analysis. The city is currently testing virtualization of several secondary servers and we're very pleased with the results. Realized benefits include reduced power consuption, fast recovery times from failures, efficient management, and cost savings from reduction of hardware.

In 2011 Mayor and City Council approved the much needed upgrade to our wide area network. For the past decade communcations between City Hall and Public Works, Golf, and the Rec center was limited to 1.5Mb using AT&T point-to-point T1's. Our new fiber upgrades now run at 100Mbs between each of our locations.
