MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TEMPORARY CHANGE IN WATER PLANT DISINFECTION PROCESS

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department has advised that it plans to temporarily change the mode of disinfection from combined chlorine to free chlorine. This change in chlorination will be in effect beginning at 12:01 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2006 and ending Sunday, February 26, 2006  at the Hialeah, Preston, and Alexander Orr water treatment plants.  Consumers may temporarily experience unusual taste or odor in their tap water. This periodic change in disinfection will help ensure the bacteriological integrity of the various water distribution systems.

To optimize this chlorination process, the City of Miami Springs Water Division will be implementing a flushing program. We will be flushing water lines throughout the city on the nights of February 21 and 22 after 10:00 p.m.
