Confidence Report on Water Quality
Dear Residents,
Every
year all “Community Water Systems” are required by the Federal Safe Drinking
Water Act as mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Federal
Government to prepare and deliver to every resident an annual report on the
quality of your drinking water.
As
many of you may know, the City of Miami Springs only transmits water to your
homes and businesses…we do not produce or treat the water. Most of our drinking water comes from the
Preston Water Plant in
The
Florida Department of Health also requires that we take samples annually from
sixty homes within the City to test for lead and copper levels that may be
caused by our transmission lines or the pipes connecting your home to our
system. For three years in a row, Miami
Springs was within the allowable levels for lead and copper. Because of this, we are allowed to sample
less frequently, thereby saving you money.
The next date for sampling will be Summer,
2006.
The
Health Department also takes samples of their own from various locations
throughout Miami Springs that are tested for coliform bacteria in the
water. During the year, only two of the
addresses tested positive for coliforms with non-acute violations. Both were
retested and cleared.

*Although Miami
Springs is not required to test for lead and copper until June 2006, we can
report that the water we purchased for distribution was below the allowable
limits set by the government. Last test was done in 2003. |
