The City was contacted by AECOM, a firm that is apparently getting ready to run, or is in the process of engineering, a new gas pipeline under the streets of Miami Springs to service the Preston Water Plant in Hialeah. This is being done on behalf of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Dept.
The attached map shows the line coming through the Springs from the airport. The main run will be Huntinglodge north from VG to Melrose, north on Lenape from Melrose to Nightingale, Nightingale east to Shadow Way, Shadow Way north to Quail, east down Quail to NRPB and then south east on NRPB to the curve. It would then go under the canal and terminate at the Preston Water Plant.
I would like to schedule this company to appear at a council meeting as soon as possible to explain the process, the
cost, the time frame and plan for maintenance of traffic, daily dust control, etc. We should also require a meeting between MDW&S, AECOM, city staff and the residents who live on the proposed route. We could probably use the theater for the meeting.
