Did You See Something? Should You Say Something? YES!

The Miami Springs Police Department urges all residents to call if they see any suspicious activity.  We understand that sometimes people are reluctant to call the police because they aren't sure what suspicious activity looks like.  Here are some examples:

  • Vehicles or people loitering in an area for an extended period of time (particularly if in hidden or out of the way areas)
  • Open doors or windows that are usually closed (especially if the owner is away)
  • Unattended bags or luggage on a street corner or roadside

Just because you observe something listed above doesn't mean that anything suspicious is occurring.  That decision is made by the officer who responds and investigates the situation.  In order to do that, you need to call first!  If you find yourself thinking that something or someone is odd or out of place and whether or not you should call the police, call MSPD at 305-888-9711.

Try to note the following information so that you can relay it to the call taker:

  • WHO or WHAT you saw
  • WHEN you saw it
  • WHERE it occurred
  • WHY it is suspicious

If possible, try to remain on the telephone as long as possible while observing the activity so that you provide updates until  police arrive.  If you can't stay in the area or feel afraid, gather as much information as you can and then call the police.

You are all extra sets of eyes and ears and we need your help so that we can continue to provide our residents and visitors with the level of service that you have come to expect of us.
