The mission of Academy for Innovative Education is to create student-leaders who are empowered by challenging academic experiences while solving real-world problems in a culture of innovation and collaboration. AIE will immerse its students in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) as a way of seeking facts and making sense of the world around them. At AIE learning is focused on active exploration of major concepts, ideas and theories through hands-on learning and real-life problem solving. Students will be challenged to use scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills as they take ownership of their personal academic exploration and growth.
AIE Charter School has been innovative since its very inception in 2011. The first of its kind in the state of Florida, the Academy for Innovative Education is a Miami-Dade County Public School managed charter school and one option out of the school district's suite of school choice options for students and parents.
The school began as a K-3 in the Fall of 2011 and added grades each year. In the 2022-2023 school year, AIE became a full K-12 and graduated it's first senior class. Both the Elementary School and Middle/High School have been awarded a School Grade of "A" by the Florida Department of Education. The focus of the school is Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics (STEAM).
The elementary grades offer dynamic academic instruction, a gifted enrichment program in Science, and unrivaled extracurricular opportunities for students in music, the arts, and athletics. The Middle/High school offers rigorous instruction across all grade levels and a boasts an academically challenging college preparatory track for students, in which they have the opportunity to earn FIU Dual Enrollment credits and a prestigious AP Capstone Diploma.
The school offers a variety of extracurricular clubs and activities such as Student Government, National Honor Societies, an award-winning Music and Performing Arts Academy. The school is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) and features a robust interscholastic sports program with Middle and High School competition teams such as basketball, track & field, soccer, weightlifting, volleyball, flag-football, and competition cheer.
