Dr. Thompson moved to Miami Springs from Alabama in 1945, and set up a general family and obstetrical practice office on Park Street in June of 1946. He had just completed a tour of active service in the Navy, and in 1947 qualified as a first class FAA medical examiner to test and examine airline pilots for their fitness qualifications, which he continued to do for many years. Over the 40 years of his span of practice, he delivered more than half of the babies born in Miami Springs!
