At the June 25, 2018 Council meeting, Council passed a resolution urging our State legislators to help the City obtain its fair share of Tourist Development Tax (TDT), the so-called “Bed Tax,” generated and collected by the County from the rental of hotel rooms in the City.
The City in recent years has seen a surge of new hotels opening, which bring more tourists to South Florida but put a strain on City services, especially our Miami Springs police.
Unfortunately, despite the increase in hotels and additional Bed Taxes generated from our community, the City does not receive funds to recover costs, let alone a fair share, from the millions of dollars Hotel in Bed Tax collected annually by Miami-Dade County.
The City is urging the State Legislature to help. We urge residents to contact the State legislators listed below and ask them for their support for: “Our Fair Share of Hotel Bed Taxes”
