Miami Springs Appoints First-Ever City Historian
Miami Springs, FL - At its August 11, 2025 City Council meeting, the City of Miami Springs made history by officially naming Ken Wilde as the community’s first Honorary City Historian.
The appointment follows the Council’s unanimous endorsement earlier this year to create the honorary role in recognition of individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to preserving and promoting the City’s heritage.
Mr. Wilde, who serves as Vice Chair of the City’s Historic Preservation Board and is an active member of the Miami Springs Historical Society, has long been regarded as the community’s leading historical resource. His work includes documenting architectural landmarks, organizing community history events, producing educational materials, contributing to local historical publications, and preparing a forthcoming book on the history of Miami Springs.
“Ken’s dedication to safeguarding our City’s story ensures that our past will be celebrated and remembered for generations to come,” the Council resolution noted. The honorary title carries no compensation but provides a formal point of contact for historical inquiries and supports upcoming Centennial Celebration efforts.
The City congratulates Mr. Wilde on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his continued commitment to honoring and sharing Miami Springs’ rich history.
