Recreation Commission

The Recreation Commission serves as an advisory board to the City commission on issues pertaining to parks and recreation. The Recreation Commission assumes a major role in developing a sense of community and enhancing the resident’s quality of life by providing recreational and social programs to preschool age children, youth, teen, adult, family, and senior populations and by organizing and hosting special city events.  The commission advises on Recreation needs; review of facilities, their usage, and their adequacy in the short and long-term; review existing programs and contractual services; review and make recommendations regarding the financing of Parks and Recreation programs; encourage coordination of programs among other organizations providing recreational opportunities.

Commitment:

  • Advise and assist the Parks and Recreation Director and staff as needed, in matters involving or affecting City parks and recreation.
  • As needed inform the Parks and Recreation Director, City Staff and City commission of the status and progress of recreational and parks services, plans, special events, fundraisers and activities.
  • Advise and make recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Director, City Staff and City commission as needed, regarding the promotion of citizen participation in recreation and park programs and distribution of information about recreational activities offered by the city.
  • Assist Parks and Recreation Director, City Staff and City commission as needed, in the implementation of the goals, objectives, and policies of the Recreation and open space elements of the city.
