Special Magistrate Hearing

The purpose of the Special Magistrate Hearing is to enforce land and property codes in an effort to eliminate conditions that threaten the life, health, safety, and general welfare of residents.  The Special Magistrate views itself primarily as an educational and appeal body, working with the residents to resolve their compliance issues and providing them with an opportunity for input and explanation of their code infractions.

The Special Magistrate is appointed by the City Commission, advised by the City Attorney, and works closely with the City's Code Compliance Officers to help ensure that the aesthetics of our beautiful City is maintained throughout so that conditions do not develop posing a negative effect throughout the whole neighborhood. This effort helps enhance property values, maintain community appearance and standards, and to preserve the quality of life in our community through the enforcement of Miami Springs Ordinances.
