Miami Springs resident Andy Heermance was truly one of the foremost “magnificent young men in their flying machines” with a 66-year career that spanned flying WWI Jennies to soaring gliders in the 1980’s.
In January, 1920, after a 12-day drive from Detroit in a 1910 Buick, 20-year old Andy Plassey and his family relocated to South Florida. One of the City's earliest residents, he started a construction company that built many local commercial and residential buildings, and was very active in the civic life of the new city.
Andy Clark Sr., a communications expert, was the founder of Miami Springs TV Productions and produced local cable shows for many years including his popular interview program called “What’s Your Opinion?”. A proponent for open government and an informed citizenry, he was responsible for the first broadcasts of City Council meetings.
