Practice Safety

Always remember to lock your residence, set your house alarm, remove valuables from your vehicle, and make sure the doors are locked.

If leaving on vacation only tell trusted family or friends, don’t advertise it on social media, have your house lights on a timer, leave a radio on, stop your mail and newspaper delivery, leave a car in the driveway, have a neighbor check on your home and fill out a vacant house form with the police department.

Having packages delivered to your house is very convenient but make sure you are home to receive them.  If not have them delivered to a neighbor who is home, a post office box, or if possible to your work.

Just bought a brand new televison or other high ticket item? Try and break down boxes and other packaging as to not give away what's inside your home.

Do not advertise all the lovely items you own on social media.

Criminals can try and scope out your home posing as a delivery person or someone looking for charitable donations. Be cautious when talking to people you’re unfamiliar with and don’t let them in your home.
