Eyes on the Block: Unite for a Safer Miami Springs

Block Watch is a volunteer citizen crime prevention program of mutual assistance among neighbors aimed at reducing crime in the neighborhood at the grass roots level. It involves neighbors getting to know neighbors, being alert to the potential of crime, and being willing to look out for each other’s interest. The Block Watch program enables citizens and business owners to assist police in reducing crime within the community.

Miami Springs is one of the safest cities in Miami-Dade County. However, crimes against people and property can be reduced even more by participating in the Block Watch program. Block watchers will learn crime prevention techniques, personal safety, and crime trends by Miami Springs Police Department. Block Watchers will also learn the importance of recognizing suspicious activity and how to properly report suspicious persons, vehicles, or incidents to the police.

With guidance and participation from Miami Springs Police Officers, Block Watch meetings will be held to share information. We’ll have some meetings face-to-face and others online through Zoom.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to become part of this crime-reducing program. If you're interested in joining please fill out an application and return it to the Community Policing Office (274 Westward Drive) or email it to CPO [at] mspd.us (CPO[at]mspd[dot]us). Once the initial application is returned an officer from our Community Policing Office will be in contact with you. You and your neighbors have the best understanding of what’s happening in your community. By collaborating with one another and the police, you can help deter crime. Let the criminals know that the neighborhood is “watching” them.
