The Miami Springs Police Department K-9 Unit is assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division and provides specialized support to officers throughout the city. Our K-9 teams are available 24 hours a day to assist with criminal apprehensions, narcotics detection, firearms and ammunition detection, evidence recovery, and other law enforcement operations.
The unit is comprised of four K-9 officers and four police service dogs. Two dual-purpose K-9s are trained in both criminal apprehension and narcotics detection. One single-purpose K-9 specializes in narcotics detection, while another single-purpose K-9 is trained in firearms and ammunition detection. These highly trained teams play a critical role in enhancing public safety and supporting criminal investigations.
