Disability Advisory Board

The Disability Advisory Board advises the city commission and administrative staff on concerns that affect the life and living conditions of persons with disabilities in Miami Springs with a focus on appropriate programs, disability services, plans and projects to be implemented in our city that will assist and benefit all people with disabilities.  The Board shall review, coordinate information, provide suggestions, proposals, and plans, address complaints from the general public by identifying areas for collaboration for delivery of accessible facilities and services for residents with disabilities and make recommendations accordingly to the city commission and/or City staff as needed.

Highlights:

  • Board has purchased special adaptive equipment lift for universal accessibility for the municipal pool.
  • Installation of extended asphalt pads for wheelchairs and benches along the bike paths.
  • Advised on and provided plans for curb cuts and sidewalk modifications, disability parking issues and special doors for the library.
