Watch Us Grow: Demonstration Planting at Peavy-Dove Park

Thanks to a grant from the US Forest Service through the Urban and Community Forestry Program of the Florida Forest Service of the State’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Miami Springs has planted 56 trees and bushes in Peavy-Dove Park along Quail Avenue. These include Royal Poinciana, Gumbo Limbo, Pigeon Plum, Dahoon Holly, Jamaica Caper, Simpson Stopper (trees) and Necklace Pod, Cocoplum and Wild Coffee (shrubs).  It is our intention to use this as a demonstration planting to show examples of hardy and appropriate native trees and bushes that are well-suited for shade and buffer screening on your own property. (And before you decide to plant a tree, be sure to read the “Right Tree, Right Place” page at http://www.miamisprings-fl.gov/publicworks/plant-right-tree-right-place )

Check back with this page from time to time, and watch our new planting grow!
