Reduce unwanted telemarketing calls by registering your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry, a free service managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Once your number is registered, most legitimate telemarketers are required to stop calling you.
Keep in mind: Scammers often ignore the law. If your number is on the registry and you receive an unsolicited call asking for money or personal information, use caution and never provide sensitive information over the phone.
How to Register
You can register your home or mobile phone in one of two ways:
Online
Visit www.DoNotCall.gov and follow the instructions to register your phone number.
By Phone
Call 1-888-382-1222 from the phone number you wish to register.
Registration is free.
Calls You May Still Receive
Even after your number has been registered for 31 days, certain organizations are still permitted to contact you, including:
- Political organizations.
- Charitable organizations.
- Survey and polling organizations.
- Companies with whom you have an existing business relationship.
- Businesses that you have given permission to contact you.
- Business-to-business solicitations.
Cell Phones
Both home telephone numbers and personal cell phone numbers may be registered with the National Do Not Call Registry.
In addition, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations generally prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialing systems to place unsolicited calls to cell phones.
Your Registration Never Expires
Your registration remains active unless your telephone number is disconnected and reassigned to someone else.

Protect Yourself from Scam Calls
Being on the National Do Not Call Registry does not stop scam or fraudulent calls.
Remember:
- Never provide personal, banking, or credit card information to an unsolicited caller.
- Be cautious of callers who pressure you to act immediately or demand payment.
- If you're unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and contact the company or agency directly using a verified phone number.
